Through the special campaign in the company, TBL has been boosting up entrepreneurs in Tanzania. For the past three years 200 women in Simanjiro (Mama Masai) have been receiving shop rental fee to allow them to sell their products in Dar es Salaam.

Mama Masai has received $3000 annually for three years to pay for their shop (located in Kaunda Road, Dar es Salaam). This means that all the money made in salescan be returned to the women in Simanjiro.

The $3000 Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL) is donating today is our continued support to Mama Maasai, we hope this shop will continue to benefit the Maasai women of Simanjiro, their families and their communities. says Emma Oriyo, TBL External Affairs Manager.

Our sustainable development project campaign, support entrepreneurial initiatives in Tanzania, we hope to continue assist other groups so as to enable Tanzanian communities with opportunities especially with employment. She added Ms. Montse Pejuan, who is one of the volunteers at the shop spoke on behalf of the women and said; “The benefits of the business to this womens group and their families is huge. In the last two years, all the women have joined Village Community Banks (VICOBA).

They are able to save some of the money they make through sales of their craft-ware and make regular contributions. Eventually, either as a group or individually, they can take a loan.

So far, two groups have bought a power tiller to cultivate the land and grow crops which can be sold locally. Others have bought chickens or goats to rear and sell.

Many have been able to pay school fees and medical bills and to improve their homes. TBL's assistance has been a very important contribution to the success of the whole enterprise.

Mama Masai is striving to become sustainable. The generosity of our supporters is helping them make this goal achievable. She added.
