The 18th branch of Diamond Trust Bank Tanzania (DTBT) was formally inaugurated by Honorable Joel Bendera, the Regional Commissioner for Morogoro Region on Wednesday the 4th December 2013.

Mr. Bendera, while inaugurating the branch congratulated Diamond Trust Bank for the state of art banking ambience of the branch and the focus on the SME banking by opening more branches at Regional Headquarters. The Regional Commissioner expressed the need for more banks to follow the footsteps of DTB and concentrate efforts to provide financial access to the unbanked rural Tanzania.

Speaking to the members of press during the official launch ceremony, DTBT Country Manager and CEO, Mr. Viju Cherian, said that “the opening of the 18th branch at Morogoro is a re-affirmation of the Banks aim of expanding its geographical reach in Tanzania while simultaneously moving closer to the customer. The network of the Bank has grown from 4 branches end 2008 to 18 in a space of 5 years. We plan to open the 19th branch in Tabora in December and the 20th branch at Kahama in Q-1 2014”.

DTB widely rated as the fastest growing bank in Tanzania, has also carved out a niche for consistent financial achievements. The Bank has performed well above industry standards with PBT, Total Assets and Deposits growing by 37%, 34% and 31% respectively, in the 12 months ending September 2013. The non-performing loans continue to be at a low 1.2% of the total credit portfolio compared to 7.42% for the entire banking industry. The Bank’s newly introduced products like Internet Banking, Mobile Banking and M-Pesa at ATMs have provided low cost multi-channel access points for the growing clientele.

Mr. Viju Cherian stressed that “amidst competition from more than 50 banks in Tanzania, DTB has continued to offer customers a great banking experience through superior customer delivery, convenience of alternative banking channels and extended banking hours in select branches”.

DTBT has a network of 18 branches in Tanzanian, 8 branches in Dar es Salaam (Jamaat Street, Masaki, Morocco, Magomeni, Mbezi, Mbagalla, Nyerere & Kariakoo), 2 branches at Arusha and 1 each at Mwanza, Zanzibar, Dodoma, Tanga, Mbeya, Moshi, Iringa and Morogoro.

DTB is a regional Bank with its Headquarters in Nairobi and operates 95 branches across 4 East African countries: 46 branches in Kenya, 27 in Uganda, 18 in Tanzania and 4 in Burundi.
