launching of 2010 european film festval


The European Union Delegation in Tanzania is pleased to announce that the European Film Festival for this year will be launched on Thursday 14th October 2010 at the New World Cinema in Dar es Salaam.

For more than three weeks up to 7th of November,films from European countries and from Tanzania will be shown everday at the New World Cinema.

There will also be an outdoor screening of the films at Mnazi Mmoja grounds for Saturday and Sundays except on the 31st October,the day of the General Election in Tanzania.

And for the first time,the festival will take place in Arusha from 8th to 15th of November.
A total of 39 movies are expected to be shown during the festival.

Although they are from different European countries,they represent the variety of Europe’s culture which is world renowned.

The festival is organised by diplomatic mission of Eurepean countries and their cultural institutes.

Ambassador Tim Clarke,Head of the European Union Delegation said: “I am proud to announce the launching of the 2010 European Film Festival.

As in previous years,it provides a marvellous opportunity for Europe to show of the vibrancy of the European Film Industry,and to share this with Tanzanian people.

For the first time we have been able to take the festival to Arusha,and we hope to extend this even further.

This is becoming a landmark event in our cultural co-operation programme.
