Absa buttresses status with four awards at Consumer Choice Awards Africa 2022

 
Absa Bank Tanzania Limited has reinstated its position as a digital innovation pioneer in the industry and preferred bank of choice after scooping four different awards during the Consumer Choice Awards Africa Gala held at Diamond Jubilee Hall in Dar es Salaam over the weekend.

Absa Bank was awarded The Most Advanced Digital Banking Service in Southern Africa, The Most Preferred International Bank (Large Size) at Customer Service, The Most Consumer Preferred Extended and Accessible Bank in Africa, and The Most Advanced Digital Banking Service in Southern Africa.

Representing the Bank’s MD, Absa’s Finance Director, Mr. Obedi Laiser, said “One of our core values as a bank is our obsession with the customer. And throng our customer centricity approach, we have become a truly digitally lead bank that is in tune with the changing needs and wants of our customers. We continuously deploy innovative banking solutions that are “a-first in the market” offering unrivaled customer convenience, and this is evidently the reason we have been voted as the best in the different awards categories we have won today.”

The official noted that in 2015 the bank made a deliberate decision to become a truly digital bank and went paperless bank in order to deliver the best banking experience for customer, enabling customers to walk into branches and access service like deposit and withdrawal without having to fill papers.

Hand in hand with this, Absa has introduced a unique Queue Management System that allows customers to interact with the bank’s tellers directly and privately through their phone either via WhatsApp or SMS.

He noted that the bank has also enhanced its Mobile Banking App to allow customers access virtually every banking service through Mobile Banking App and also manage their cards and banking details conveniently. Customer can change their email addresses, update their mobile numbers, block or unblock their cards at their convenience without needing to visit any of the branches or filling any papers.

“ Recently we also launched a QR Code ATM Withdraw Solution that allows customers to withdraw cash from any Absa ATM through the Absa Mobile Baking App using a QR code, discarding the need to have an ATM card with them,” noted Obedi Laiser.

“Our ATMs have also been enhanced to accept cash deposits. Through these Cash Deposit ATMs our customers do not need to visit a branch in order to make deposits. They can deposit their cash on any of our Cash Deposit ATM near them conveniently without the limit of time.”

According to the Absa official the bank’s has not stopped at individual customers segments only. To serve better the business clients the bank has partnered with Visa and introduce a debit card targeted at businesses in Tanzania. The Absa Visa Business Debit Card, which is linked to the business’ transaction account, is more than a payment tool. It is a solution aimed at helping businesses track and manage their operational expenses efficiently, access cost saving benefits and make easy and secure online transactions.

“ Most of these innovations are “firsts” in the market, and we are very proud to be the bank that is always ahead of the curve when it comes to introducing cutting edge digital solutions to our customers in Tanzania, ” Said Obedi Laiser in his concluding remarks.
