Chipsika Kiajira na Coke, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering young entrepreneurs in the food vending business, has successfully concluded its second season. The event, attended by over 800 people, witnessed the remarkable expansion of the program to include beneficiaries from the Coast Region, in addition to various areas of Dar es Salaam. Under the guidance of Coca-Cola Kwanza, this initiative has been instrumental in providing support and opportunities to young men and women involved in the thriving food vending business.
The program has not only empowered these individuals but has also contributed to the growth and development of the local economy. Hon Mussa Azzan Zungu, Deputy Speaker of Tanzania National Assembly and Member of Parliament and graced the event as the Guest of Honor and expressed his delight at the success of the initiative that has gone on to impact thousands of young Tanzanians since its launch last year.
Hon. Mussa Zungu stated, “I encourage all the young entrepreneurs who have benefited from this initiative to seize the opportunities presented to them and continue striving for success. With the support and resources provided, I believe they have the potential to achieve even greater heights and contribute to the development of our nation.”
Speaking at the event, Coca-Cola Kwanza’s Managing Director, Unguu Sulay, said, “We are extremely proud of the successful collaboration between Coca-Cola Kwanza, Oryx Gas Tanzania Ltd, and esteemed government institutes such as the Institute of Social Work and the Tanzania Police Force.
This public-private sector partnership has been instrumental in driving positive change and empowering the youth involved in the food vending business through our different flagship initiatives. By combining our resources, expertise, and networks, we have been able to provide comprehensive support to these young entrepreneurs, enabling them to thrive and contribute to the growth of our society. This collaboration exemplifies the power of collective action and demonstrates our commitment to nurturing and empowering the youth in Tanzania.”
Coca-Cola Kwanza’s Public Affairs and Communications Director, Salum Nassor, highlighted the range of essential tools of trade, including special gas stoves, 15kgs LPG-filled Oryx Gas cylinders, food cabinets, Coca-Cola beverage capital, and kitchen clothing, which were distributed to the young entrepreneurs involved in the Chipsi Business.
Additionally, the Director emphasized the importance of the comprehensive training sessions conducted in collaboration with government institutes. These training sessions covered topics such as capital growth, bookkeeping, stress management, customer care, and community safety.
During the event, the Head of Network Sales Coastal from Oryx Gas Tanzania Ltd, Mr. Shaban Mohamed emphasized the importance of using clean gas as a fuel source for the young entrepreneurs involved in the Chipsi Business. He highlighted that clean gas not only ensures a healthier cooking environment but also reduces carbon emissions, contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable future.
Mr. Shaban encouraged the beneficiaries to embrace the use of clean gas, as it aligns with their commitment to providing quality food and caring for the environment. He emphasized that by choosing clean gas, they are not only improving their own health and safety but also making a positive impact on their communities and the planet as a whole.
