On 16 February 2013, at 8:00 pm Dar Rising organized an event at Little theatre and joined with activists around the world for ONE BILLION RISING, the largest day of action in the history of V-Day, the global activist movement to end violence against women and girls.
One in three women on the planet is raped or beaten in her lifetime. That is ONE BILLION WOMEN violated - One billion daughters, mothers, grandmothers, sisters, lovers and friends.
The organizer Shaffina Jaffer and her team said the proceeds from the event will go to an NGO dealing in Health & Disability in Rural Tanzania (Mufindi Orphans & Foxes’ NGO) founded in 2005 due to their holistic approach in providing healthcare and other services specially for women who have been abused by their families and community.
The event educated the audience on issues relating to violence against women and girls.
